Sometime in the last couple of weeks I decide to sign up for Birchbox. Birchbox is a beauty sample subscription box. This means you pay a subscription and get a month each month filled with goodies. For the women’s box it is $10/month (including shipping). You can sign up for just one month or a year, generally if you sign up for a year you can find a coupon code to get one month free. There is usually a waiting list to get started. It said it could be 4 weeks before there was a spot for me but it was more like 2. I don’t really know how I feel about paying for samples but it’s only $9.17/month, so what the hell. People drink, smoke, play the lottery, buy a daily Starbucks – I don’t feel so bad about this then! You complete a ‘profile’ about yourself so you get samples tailored to your interest. This month there were 54 different boxes! When you sign up, purchase full-sized products, write reviews you receive Birchbox points that you can redeem towards full-sized products and it’s great because many products ship free! It’s a pretty fun little deal and I get amusement out of it. If you are interest feel free to message me with any question and if you’d like to sign up please use my referral link! This month’s Birchbox theme was ‘Power Play’ and they partnered with Suits (a TV show on USA Network).
So I got the box today in the mail. It was a little smaller than I thought it’d be and arrived in a hot pink mailer box.
Inside that box was another box. The one that held the goodies. Under a layer of cute pink tissue paper.
Each box also contains a card that lists the samples that are in the box along with the price of a full-sized product.
My box contained 5 samples:
COOLA Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face
-Smells good. I’m excited to use it. This is something I probably wouldn’t buy though.
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream
-Pretty small sample, but will still get several uses out of it. Seems to have good coverage. The color matches my skin tone pretty well so that’s a plus. Kind of a weird smell. I don’t normally use CC cream because I try to have a low-key make-up regimen so it was fun to try/use.
Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume
-Cute little envelope packaging. I really like the way this smells. Which is saying a lot because once I find a perfume I stick with it until well it gets discontinued which has happened to my last two perfumes. Sigh. I would consider buying this if it wasn’t for the $120 price tag. Sigh again.
Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect
-Good sized sample. Decent smell. Haven’t actually used yet. Supposed to detangle, UV & heat protect, and color protection. Hopefully it’ll work but some of those things you just have to hope it’s doing it’s job.
Birchbox Bobby Pins
-I was hoping I wouldn’t get these. I’m assuming most boxes had them though. I received the blue colored ones. I just don’t really use this type of hair accessory, but I guess I’ll have to give them a try! They are much thicker than normal bobby pins and seem to hold hair in place well.
