BA Star Smokey Palette Review.

BA Star Smokey Palette Review.

BA STAR is a makeup company that specializes in cheerleader/dancer make-up. But obviously anyone can use and wear it. Today I’m going to do a review on the ‘Midnight Smokey Eye Palette”. It’s a high pigment, long lasting shadow. The shadow is really shimmery. It comes with a shimmer base, I definitely suggest using the base when you use this shadow otherwise it stays a loose glitter. The base makes it stay longer and go on a bit creamier. You don’t even know it’s on after you put it on, and it seems to stay in place quite well.

Cowgirl Dirt Makeup Reviews.

Cowgirl Dirt is a cosmetic company offering a variety of products. “Cowgirl Dirt products are made with the purest natural and organic ingredients. Our collection of mineral-based products not only enhances your natural beauty, but also contains vitamins, nutrients and anti-oxidants that nourish your skin.” Once I saw their brand and how well it fit with my blog I knew I had to work with them!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

1. Hi Ho Silver (eye shadow) – Shimmery silver, with a tiny tint of blue.
2. Oklahoma Storm (eye shadow) – Smokey matte black.
3. Cowgirl Up (eye shadow) – Love this color, kind of hard to explain. It’s kind of peachy looking in the image and in the container but when you put it on it’s very shimmery and iridescent (like those hand stamps from Chuck E. Cheese’s if you know what I mean).
4. Raspberry Wine (eye shadow) – Smokey plum with slight shimmer, great for accenting a smokey eye.
5. Rodeo Queen (eye shadow) – Matte blueish-silver (similar to Hi Ho silver, but more blue).
6. Let’s Ride (eye shadow) – Pink shimmer.
7. Rawhide (blush) – Coral-y pink matte.

I also received a sample of their Silk Veil powder foundation in Buckskin (a nice light coverage one), finishing powder (creates smooth appearance), and concealer in neutral light (covers very nicely). The eye shadows were really great. They are all very pigmented and have long wearability. They have a great shade selection as well as finishes (matte, shimmer, etc.). I definitely recommend them to all. It’s also great to see a makeup brand geared towards us farm girls! Because farmers do wear makeup!

As you know I have teamed up with Cowgirl Dirt to bring you the first giveaway held on this blog! You can win a lip gloss or eye shadow of your choice! Enter here: giveaway.

November Birchbox & Ipsy Reviews.

Yes, I know I’m a little late to the game this month. You know since it’s December, sorry! But I’ve just been so busy. This month is also my first month of subscribing to Ipsy. But let’s get to the reviews! Birchbox is a beauty subscription box for $10/month. If you’d like to sign up please CLICK HERE to use my referral code and get signed up! The Birchbox theme this month was More Good. Here’s the card that came with it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is what my box looked like this month.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And of course there is the content card with prices.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was really happy with this month’s box. Birchbox really stepped it up! Although I am sick of getting face scrubs! Hopefully their boxes will continue to be this good. Notice there are NO tiny samples or foil packet!? Finally!

Color Club Cocktail Hour Collection in Top Shelf. Mini sized, but still plenty. I nice copper color. Perfect for the holidays.

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator. Honestly, I haven’t used this yet. I get too many face scrubs in these boxes!

Chella Highlighter Pencil in Ivory Lace. This is a nice sized sample. It’s a really nice color and texture for highlighting. I read that you can use it on your waterline to make your eyes pop as well.

Chuao Chocolatier Chocolate Bar in Honeycomb. OK, you guys know how I hate receiving stuff like this is a beauty box. But this was so good, really!

Tocca Crema da Mano Luxe in Cleopatra. Smells like grapefruit and cucumber. Sounds like a strange combo but it actually smells pretty good.

Now onto Ipsy. I had been really disapointed with my Birchbox’s and jealous of peoples Ipsy bags so I decided to subscribe to Ipsy as well. It’s the same concept at Birchbox except the beauty items come in a makeup bag each month. Ipsy seems to be geared more towards makeup whereas Birchbox includes all areas of beauty. If you’d like to subscribe to Ipsy, I’d appreciate you using my referral link. It arrives each month in a pink bubble mailer! This month’s theme is Glam It Up.

Here are the content cards, on the back includes the monthly discounts to the products in the bag.

So here’s what I got in my Ipsy bag this month.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The bag is a shimmery gold snakeskin with pink trim. Basically ALL full-size, how awesome!

Now for the product reviews…

em michelle phan lash gallery mascara in brown. Looks like a nice product, the brush looks nice. I haven’t used this because I plan to give it away since I don’t use brown mascara.

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Hot Damn. So many red lip colors… But this seems to be a nice red color, not a which corner are you working red. Nice texture also.

Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer in Caviar Cocktail. Really pretty silver color. And I’m really glad I got this because the other option was a copper color and I received a copper polish in my Birchbox (see above).

Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched. Nice bronzer and a nice color. Gives you a nice glow without being to shimmery.

Starlooks Gem Eyeliner Pencil in Amethyst. Haven’t used because I’m afraid of (makeup) change. It is a really pretty shimmery color.

HSI Professional Argan Oil. Haven’t used since I have several other bottles. I still don’t know how I really feel about argan oil in general.

That’s right folks SIX products! And most are full-size and if they aren’t there is still plenty to use!

Holiday Beauty Swap?

Anyone interested in doing a holiday beauty swap? I subscribed to Ipsy & Birchbox so I have a lot of beauty items that I won’t use. Plus, who doesn’t want an extra beauty gift this holiday season? I know a couple other blogs are doing this as well. I have thought of trying to set one up for a while, so I thought I’d give it a try. It could either be all samples or maybe one full size item along with samples? Leave a comment below if it’s something you’d like to do and if we get enough people we’ll set it up! 🙂

BA STAR Lip Pencil Review.

LP100-2T

BA STAR is a makeup company that specializes in cheerleader/dancer make-up. But obviously anyone can use and wear it. Today I’m going to do a review on the ‘Holiday Red Lip Pencil”. It’s a berry red full color lip color that is supposed to last all day. You can add shine by using a lip gloss or glitter over top. It has a great smell and a really great texture. You don’t even know it’s on after you put it on, and it seems to stay in place quite well.

My camera is having some issues and is taking really blurring pictures, but I wanted you to be able to see how it looks on my lips. So here it is, again sorry for the quality.

BA STAR Review.

BA STAR is a make-up company that specializes in cheerleader/dancer make-up. But obviously anyone could use/wear it. I am reviewing the Bronze Star Dust. It’s a very fine glitter dust. It can be applied anywhere (use logic, people!) but generally used as eye shadow. It also comes with a shimmer base. As with any make-up you don’t have to use a base first but it stays on so much better when you use the base.

IMG_0149

It had a really great, vibrant color. And I love that it didn’t have a gritty glitter feel.

IMG_0155

The top/right side is the glitter powder without the base and the bottom/left side is the powder with the base. The based made it stay on much better and gave it a bit more color, but it could get gunked up if you used to much base.

Sephora Favorites Super Stars

Last week I order the Sephora Favorites Super Star Beauty Essential kit. They have a special going on that if you spent $50 you received free 3-day shipping. Score! I received the kit in the mail today. Every order you make with Sephora you get 3 free samples and they always have tons of promo codes to receive another free ‘deluxe’ sample, and since my birthday was July 22, I received the ‘Happy Birthday Beautiful’ Birthday Turn-Ons kit. Yeah so I received quite a haul of free products. The Super Star Beauty Essential kit cost $75. It’s a $180 value. And it includes some of the most talked about beauty products. Now I’m just a small town farm girl from Iowa so I actually hadn’t heard of everything in the kit and haven’t tried/used any of the products before!s1521830-main-Lhero

Contents of the Kit:
NARS Blush in Orgasm. Full-size 0.16oz. $29
*I’m really excited to use this! It’s the most talked about/loved blush out there. I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile but didn’t want to spend $29 on just a blush but in this kit it was made much more affordable.

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Sandy. Full-size 0.15oz. $19
*Great color and smells fabulous. I don’t wear a lot of lip gloss but I think I’ll use this one because it is a nice neutral color.

Make Up Forever HD Microfinish Powder. Deluxe sample 0.17oz. $3.30
*I have been thinking about buying a finishing powder so it’s nice that this kit came with one. Especially since I would’ve bought one from Wal-Mart 🙂 hehe

Benefit They’re Real Mascara. Full-size 0.3oz. $23
*I was super excited that this was included in the kit because I was thinking about purchasing this with the NARS blush. But $23 for a mascara, eek! I used it today and I see what everyone is raving about it really separates and lengthens your lashes. But be careful the end of that brush is like a cactus and I’m somewhat afraid of losing an eye.

Sephora Mircosmooth Eyeshadow Trio in Black Light. Full-size 0.06oz. $19
*I’m pretty set in stone on my eyeshadow. I wear the same shade everyday, is that boring? I use the Maybelline Smokey Eye Kit. So I rock the smokey eye look everyday. I keep it classy:). So I wasn’t too excited to see a eye shadow. BUT this is grays/black so I might be able to incorporate this into my routine. Yikes, I’m afraid of change when it comes to my eye shadow.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Full-size 0.33oz. $18
*I don’t normally use a primer. I think it’s kind of an unnecessary product. But again I’m just a small town girl from Iowa who keeps her make-up pretty simple. But it’ll be neat to try it out and see how it works.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. Full-size 0.5oz. $14
*Initially I wasn’t too excited about see that this came in the box. But then I realized the ends of my hair are alittle dry. Forgetting that this came in the box I actually started researching hair oils! So yeah in the end it’s nice that this came in the box (and that I didn’t buy a different bottle!). I’ve never used argan oil before but everyone online is talking about it so I’ll give it a shot.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. Full-size 0.5oz. $22
*Don’t really know about this. It’s a strange green color and smells funny. It’s got a cute winky smiley face on the lid 😉 Even though it scares me I’m excited to use it.

Kat von D Perfume Rollerball in Saint. Full-size $0.33oz. $18
*I was pumped that there was a rollerball perfume in the kit because I want one for my make-up bag in my purse. I’m not sure how I feel about this scent yet though. It’s not bad but definitely not my favorite. But it gets extra point for being able to go in my purse.

Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner in Intense Black. Full-size 0.016oz. $20
*I use Avon Glimmersticks. I don’t usually ever use liquid eyeliner. And I only buy my eyeliner on sale for $2-3 a piece. Atleast this is in black! I’ll use it. It might stay on longer than what I use now, that’d be nice.

Contents of ‘Happy Birthday Beautiful’ kit:
Benefit They’re Real Mascara Mini. $10
Benefit Watt’s Up Luminizer. Deluxe sample 0.08oz. $7.27

Free Samples:
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder. Deluxe Sample 0.1oz. $15
Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum (foil packet)
Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm (foil packet)
Marchesa Perfume Sample (0.05oz)
*The 3 free sample with each order had crappy selections. Most were for men. Oh well they were free, I’m not going to complain.

So I paid $75 plus tax for everything in this order. If you add up the total value of everything I received it would be about $215 worth of products plus the foil packet samples! So I’d say it’s a pretty good deal.

Well I’m off to a Snap-On Tools event with the boy. I need that balance in my life. Make-up, tools. It’s part of my daily life 😉
