September’s Bag & Review, Street Style

September 2014 IpsyYikes sorry for the terrible phone picture

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush. I don’t mind receiving brushes in these bags. I don’t know about it being double sided though, like it might make a mess.

Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil. Not a big fan of pencil eyeliner but it’s fine. It was also brown which is a bummer, I’m a black eyeliner kind of girl.

Briogeo Don’t Despiar, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. Gotta grow my hair as long as possible and keep it healthy for the wedding. And this mask smells really good.

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss. Not going to lie, getting sick of this brand. It’s in like every bag! I’m sure this gloss is fine, but I don’t like the color so I won’t be using it.

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser. Not my kind of thing. I don’t know what I need to do to keep them from sending me weird face cleaners.

I actually like the bag this month, they’ve stepped it up! Yay for that. Overall I give this month’s bag a 2.5/5.

October’s Review, Beauty Candy

October 2014 Ipsy

City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappuccino. Don’t like the color, too brown even for fall. Would have like to try it since it’s  ‘matte’ though.

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Mango Mandarin. Cute packaging and smells good. I’m always happy to get a lotion that has a screw on cap, so I feel safe throwing it in my purse.

KISS iENVYbyKISS Lashes. I’ve never worn fake eyelashes, this is the second pair I’ve gotten from an Ipsy bag. I should give it a try sometime I guess, but my eyelashes are pretty long as they are.

ModelCo VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara. Nice brush, seems to be a decent formula. Haven’t used yet because I have a couple open right now.

Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths. I guess I don’t really mind getting face cleaning clothes because I use them a lot. These seem really nice.

I like the bag this month too, it’s fun and does give off that candy vibe. Overall I give this bag a 3.75/5.

Can’t wait until November’s bag!

SOBO Ultra Age Repairing Cream with Resveratrol.

SOBO anti-aging-cream-resveratrol-2Being in my early 20s anti-aging products aren’t at the top of my list, but are in the back of my mind. A good skincare regimen is necessary to keep skin looking healthy. I was able to sample SOBO’s age repairing skin over the past week. July & August Ipsy Reviews.

Sorry, still playing catch-up on my Ipsy posts :(.

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription box. Each month you get 4-6 beauty products inside a makeup bag. If you’d like to subscribe to Ipsy, I’d appreciate you using my referral link. It arrives each month in a pink bubble mailer!

July’s theme was ‘Sensationally Sunkissed’. So this is what I go in July:

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8. Do people still use tanning oil, seems so 1987 to me 🙂
Pur Minerals Big Look Waterproof Mascara in Black. Love this, and it was in black. Score!
Lavalin Jojoba Gel Cream. Not even sure what this is, I’ll have to do some research. Anyone heard of this product?
Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm. OK, kind of too bright of a pink for my liking.
bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow. Nice neutral color, interesting product.

The bag itself kind of reminds me of a giant pink ravioli. Not the biggest fan, not sure how I feel about it.

I give this month’s bag and products a 2.5/5. Not the best.

Let’s move on to August’s bag. August’s theme was ‘Beauty Schooled’, since it was back to school time. The products I received were:

20140831_133927Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample. Nice little sample set. I really need to get one of those Glam Rx palettes.
Dr. Brandt Pores No More. This is like the 3rd time I’ve gotten this from a beauty subscription. It’s a pretty good product overall though.
Absolute You’re The Balm in Green Apple. The balm itself is a transparent red balm. It really does smell just like apples!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara in black. Love, love, love this.
Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Pencil in black. Black eyeliner score. Goes on nicely.

The bag this month is a orange polka-dot pencil case, it’s so-so. Overall I give this bag a 4/5. It was a pretty good one!

I also finally redeem some IpsyPoints! They were offering  a mystery glam bag for 1000 points. I decided to go for it because I haven’t really liked any of the single items that were available. This is the bag and products I received:

20140831_134030Starlooks Eyeliner in a blueish/teal color. Just not a color I’ll wear.
Pop Beauty Eye Shadow Trio in neutral colors. Great palette for neutral eyes.
Klorane Smoothing & Relaxing Eye Patches. Haven’t tried these yet, but I’m excited too.
Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter. Love this smell, also moisturizes nicely.
Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Brush. I already have this brush, but you can’t have too many brushes right!?

The bag is a leopard print accented with neon green, I like it.  Overall this was a pretty good bag & products. I’d rate it 3.75/5. I think it was worth the 1000 points.

June 2014 Ipsy & Birchbox Review.

I am SO far behind for posting these reviews! Sorry guys. So I will just give a quick recap for each month to get caught up!

I’ll start with Ipsy…
20140630_154223Laneige BB Cushion. Came with 3 different colors; a light, medium, and dark, plus an applicator. I would have preferred they used our beauty profile and sent out a larger sample of the skin color we chose. I’ll never be able to use the dark, maybe not even the medium.
Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner in Blue. It’s a nice eyeliner and I like the way it applied, but it’s blue. I don’t wear blue eyeliner so that was a bummer.
NYX butter gloss in Creme Brulee. Cute pinky color. I liked this. Not a sticky formula.
Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray. Coconut smell, I liked it, smells like the beach. Works pretty decently.
Be a Bombshell Lash Out Mascara in Black. Definite plus that it was black. But it has such a strong odor that I put it in the giveaway pile.

Overall the bag was OK, I’d give it a 2.5-3/5. I wasn’t a fan of the bag design either. Navy blue with pineapples on it, not for me.

On to Birchbox…
20140630_153912Perlier Shea Butter Body Cream. Smells awesome, I love it! Feels nice on your hands, seems to moisturize pretty great too.
Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Sampler. I was pretty excited to get this in my box. 4 sample sized shadows from the big palette. I really need to get one of those GlamRX magnetic palettes, I was hoping Ipsy would use them as a points reward again…hint hint.
Coola Mineral Sunscreen. So sick of this brand and getting sunscreen in my beauty boxes! end rant.
Suki Exfoliating Foaming Cleanser. This stuff has the neatest texture/feel, haha. Seems to work good.
Folle fe Joie perfume sample. Smells OK, wouldn’t purchase a full-sized though.

This box was surprisingly pretty good. I’d give the box 3/5. Just to update you all this was my 12 box, so my year subscription was up, I did not renew. I just didn’t think the quality was there or that they were the best fit for me.

What beauty box subscription do you recommend? I still have a few months left of Ipsy, which I think I’ll probably continue. I will miss Birchbox’s point system though!

Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray.

Skindinaviaskindinavia makeup primer spray Makeup Primer Spray is truly a miracle product. The formula is oil, silicone, and paraben free. Just a few squirts on your clean face and your makeup will last all day. It makes the perfect clean palette to apply your makeup. I usually apply it in a ‘X’ pattern or and ‘*’ pattern. It takes a few seconds to dry then you don’t even know it’s there the rest of the day. Right away I noticed that my eye shadow doesn’t crease and blemishes stay covered longer. And you can’t get any more convenient – I mean all you do is spray it on and you’re good to go! To be honest I’d never been a fan of makeup primers, mainly because it was an extra, messy step, but this doesn’t take any extra time and isn’t messy at all. You can even spray it directly onto the application brush (for eye shadow, blush, etc.) and it will prevent creasing and apply evenly and smooth.

Via the Skindinavia website here are some Flawless Facts:
-83% of users agree: this is the best makeup primer they have ever used.
-93% of users agree: The Makeup Primer Spray makes skin feel noticeably smoother.
-Silicone-free formula creates a light, breathable barrier between skin and makeup.
-Helps to prevent redness, uneven skin tone and large pores.
-Proven to reduce the need for touch-ups or blotting.
-Formulated to be worn with or without makeup.
-All Skindinavia products are paraben-free and hypoallergenic.

A 4oz bottle retails for $35 and a 8oz bottle retails for $49. The bottles will last 90 and 180 days respectively. Skindinavia also has Oil-Control Primer Spray,Finishing Spray, Oil-free Finishing Spray, and Bridal Finishing Spray. The website offers some great kits, where you can get a primer and a finishing spray for a discounted price. From what I’ve seen there is usually a special running as well including a %-off discount and/or a free travel size. I also received a travel sized primer spray and it’s is perfect for your purse makeup bag and travel (obviously).

I’m definitely going to have to get my hands on the Bridal Finishing Spray since I’m getting married in less than a year. As a side note, I use the Mary Kay skincare line and when I was flipping through their catalog I noticed they offer a primer spray. After looking closer at the product I noticed that it was made by Skindinavia. I think this just goes to further prove how this is a great product.

Overall I think this product is great and a must have. The perfect addition to any beauty bloggers makeup bag, as well as the perfect product for a beginners pack.

Influenster’s Vow VoxBox.

influenster1vow voxbox

When I was accepted to receive Influenster’s Vow VoxBox I was BEYOND excited. Obviously, I couldn’t wait to see what was included in the box because I’m getting married next year. I impatiently waited for the box to arrive, and when it got here I ripped into it, and it contained some pretty great products!

Very similar to the beauty boxes I review, this box included a content card:20140701_143220

Item Breakdown:

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda. A light blue color. I absolutely love the Complete Salon Manicure line from Sally Hanson. It has a really unique brush that evenly applies the polish. It has great coverage and long wear-ability.

Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream. I was pretty surprised to see this in the box since it retails for over $30. I actually saw the commercial for this product a few days before receiving the box and thought it’d seemed neat and that I’d like to try it. Well they read my mind. It moisturizes nicely and leaves skin looking smooth and even. Good product but I don’t know if it’s a miracle product, but it’s not bad.

Riley & Grey. A wedding website company. This card included a discount. I checked out the website it has nice websites and great themes. But this just wasn’t for me, not with plenty of options for free wedding websites. This just wasn’t an expense I could afford splurging on for wedding planning.

Pure Silk Moisturizing Shave Cream in Raspberry Mist. A brand that’s been around forever. An oldie but goodie. This cream smells good, applies nicely, and leaves legs moisturized and smooth.

EcoTools Pure Complexion Sponge. I’m not going to lie, I have never seen anything like this before in my life. When dry it feels like styrofoam but when it gets wet it turn soft. It’s supposed to be really good for your skin and exfoliating. I have yet to try it.

Tide to Go Pen. Another oldie but goodie. Just rub the pen over the stain on your outfit and wah-lah it dissolves (most of the time). I always have one in the car, so I put this one in my work bag. Just product to have on-hand because you just never know.

Overall I was impressed with all the products in this box. It was a really great collection. And I hope I have the opportunity to review and try out another one of their boxes.

Memebox #1 Review.

When I was contacted by Memebox about reviewing one of there beauty boxes, it was something I couldn’t turn down! I was sent the Memebox Colorbox #1 Red.

Memebox is a beauty box from Korea, featuring popular beauty products from that area. They have SO many different types of boxes – so many that I want to try. They have colorbox, scentbox, boxes for the office or travel, you name it they have it!

You have probably figured out that since I received the Red Colorbox, that all the items are red in theme. The box included 5 full-sized items plus content card. This specific box retailed for $15.

20140812_153841Included beauty products:
Dearberry Flirt Lipstick 08 Red Parade ($12)
Dearberry Today Nail Laquer #21 Pink Sprinkling ($3)
L’OCEAN Eye Shadow L-35 Red ($10)
Tosowoong Gel Pencil Liner 04 Burgundy ($10)
Cheek Room Two Color Lip Gloss #6 Red ($12)

That’s a $47 value, so this box is totally worth the $15. The lip gloss is neat that it’s two colors and you can apply the pink or red to create the look you want. The nail polish is a nice color and has nice coverage and wear-ability. I have not used the eye shadow or lipstick. I just don’t wear red lipstick or shadow. This was a really nice box my only dislike is that it is all red, but I’m not a red person. But I definitely plan to check out other boxes because like I said they offer such a wide variety.

I had a lot of fun trying out this box and can’t wait to try more of their boxes in the future.
